Word Bird . . .

Word Bird . . .
(Part 1)

The word bird . . . had found its address . . .
The message flew in-
as, at a fleeting glance the-
 man examined the package.

"What is the delivery date on it?"
the man had asked it-
And the bird responded,
"it had a measureless deadline."

The man then opened the folds-
and he saw the word,
"infinity," etched inside of it.

The bird flew off into the night . . .
Having delivered its word,
to the lone recipient-
who now looked down at it with-
a strange puzzle on his face,
wondering what-
would now become of his fate.

Word bird??? he guessed-
but no . . . it couldn't have been,
he thought . . .

He scratched his forehead confusedly.

Paradox and Quotes ~

If you love somebody furiously, it goes to follow that you must also hate them passionately.

Night-time Habits ~

Creeping around the house late at night offers you more inspiration than anything. There is something unaccountably exciting about not being caught . . . I think inspiration works best when it's performed undercover.

Oscar Wilde Quotes ~

I am starting this page called 'Oscar Wilde' Quotes; this is dedicated to finding energy in artistic dynamics, and life-slices. Feel free to let me know if you have anything to add . . .

Mirror Image ~

“Every portrait that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not of the sitter. The sitter is merely the accident, the occasion. It is not he who is revealed by the painter; it is rather the painter who, on the colored canvas, reveals himself. The reason I will not exhibit this picture is that I am afraid that I have shown in it the secret of my own soul,” (Wilde 7).

"It is the spectator, and not life, that art really mirrors" (from 'Preface).

Beauty ~

"You have only a few years in which to live really, perfectly, and fully. When your youth goes, your beauty will go with it, and then you will suddenly discover that there are no triumphs left for you, or have to content yourself with those mean triumphs that the memory of your past will make more bitter than defeats. Every month as it wanes brings you nearer to something dreadful. Time is jealous of you, and wars against your likes and your roses. You will become sallow, and hollow-cheeked, and dull-eyed. You will suffer horribly . . .

Live! Live the wonderful life that is in you! Be always searching for new sensations. Be afraid of nothing" (Wilde 25).

Intellect  ~

"There is a fatality about all physical and intellectual distinction, the sort of fatality that seems to dog through history the faltering steps of kings. It is better not to be different from one's fellows. The ugly and the stupid have the best of it in this world. They can sit at their ease and gape and the play. If they know nothing of victory, they are at least spared the knowledge of defeat. They live as well as we all should live, undisturbed, indifferent, and without disquiet" (Wilde 6).
